Taking Calcium Supplements Causes Brain Lesions

Source: http://www.greenmedinfo.com/blog/taking-calcium-supplements-causes-brain-lesions

Taking calcium supplements -- even at low doses -- linked to brain lesions in the first study of its kind.

Most calcium supplements are just plain bad news. The idea of taking calcium in pill or tablet form to "keep the bones strong" just doesn't make that much sense given, first, that we are designed to get our calcium from food. Second, our bone is a living tissue, which requires vitamin C, amino acids, magnesium, silica, vitamins D and K, etc., not to mention regular physical activity, just as much as it does calcium. Taking calcium to the exclusion of these other critical factors doesn't make sense; nor does it make sense to look at osteoporosis as a deficiency of calcium supplements!
Newspaper reporting Calcium pills raise heart attach risk by 30% as well!
Taking supplements is definitely not the correct way to a healthier living.
People wants to stay healthy, that's why buy in the idea sells by advertisement.
How to stay healthy through correct way? Do come and join our next workshop on 17th April and 20th April.

Extra Excellence being featured in Top 10 of Malaysia

– THE DIET FACTOR –

THE REVOLUTIONARY SCIENCE OF NUTRITIONAL IMMUNOLOGY

Top 10 of Malaysia speaks to Dr Jau-Fei Chen, founder of Extra EXCEL (M) Sdn Bhd on her extensive research in preventive healthcare.

Many of us may not have heard about Nutritional Immunology, but E.Excel International aims to create more awareness on this area of medical science that advocates a nutritious diet to strengthen the immune system and prevent diseases.

“Nutritional Immunology is a science that studies how proper nutrition, through plant-based, whole-foods diet, enhances the human immune system and its related functions,” says Dr Jau-Fei Chen, founder of E.Excel International, a leading manufacturer and distributor of plant food products in the world.

The healthcare industry today is more ‘reactive’ where people usually visit a doctor only when they are ill. Nutritional Immunology is more pre-emptive as it emphasizes prevention over cure,” says Dr Chen.

“Nutritional Immunology research on the human immune system and plant foods shows that the immune system specifically requires three types of disease-fighting nutrients to function properly – antioxidants, phytochemicals and polysaccharides,” explains Dr Chen.

According to her, these disease-fighting nutrients are only available in plant foods and cannot be produced in a lab. Therefore it is best to feed the body with a variety of nutrients by having a balanced and healthy diet.

She adds, “When our body is deprived of essential nutrients, our immune system weakens and loses its ability to ward off the potential causes of poor health. Because most health problems are present in our bodies long before they exhibit any symptom, nothing can take the place of a healthy immune system.

“Insufficient knowledge, unhealthy living habits and an imbalanced diet can contribute to suppressed immune functions. At peak performance, however, our immune system – along with stress reduction, adequate sleep and moderate exercise - can overcome constant attacks from environmental pollutants and toxins, avoiding many illnesses.”

At the tender age of 15, Dr Jau-Fei Chen was accepted into Brigham Young University in the US where she was introduced to Immunology and Microbiology. This marked the beginning of Dr Chen’s career in cancer research that spanned 10 years. During that time Dr Chen met a terminally ill cancer patient who was using a voice recorder to leave messages for her young kids for events like their graduation and wedding ceremony since she wouldn’t be around for long.

“That moving encounter made me question whether I was on the right track in my research work because the development of cancer treatment drugs takes years to complete,” says Dr Chen.
“We needed a drug that could end the pain and misery of cancer patients, and we needed it fast. Moreover these drugs often have toxic side effects,” she adds. It was then that she decided to shift her focus to cancer prevention instead, which is a more proactive way to address poor health issues.

To realize her goal of advocating preventive healthcare, Dr Chen established E.Excel International in 1987. Its goal was to make breakthroughs in better healthcare through research on plant foods and the advancement of Nutritional Immunology. However E.Excel International’s first few years in operations were not a bed of roses as Nutritional Immunology was met with skepticism when it was first introduced in 1987. However, through efforts by E.Excel International, today Nutritional Immunology is an internationally recognized science. To support the growth of Nutritional Immunology, Dr Chen established the Jau-Fei Chen Scholarship and Research Endowment in 1997 that offers scholarships to Immunology students.

Because of her contributions as scientist and entrepreneur in the field of Nutritional Immunology, Dr Chen has received numerous awards, the most memorable of which was in 1997 when she was named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans by the US Junior Chamber of Commerce. She was the first person of Chinese descent to win this award of which past recipients include Theodore Roosevelt, John F Kennedy, Gerald Ford, Bill Clinton and Henry Ford.

Today, E.Excel International continues to make a positive difference in people’s health and life. Its name, “E.Excel” which stands for “Extra Excel” is a reflection of what the company stands for - to continuously seek excellence and perfection in all it does. With this as a benchmark, all of E.Excel International’s products comply with international quality standards and therefore only the finest plant food products carry the E.Excel name. Through its manufacturing facilities in Shanghai, Singapore and the United States, E.Excel International’s products are available in more than 10 countries across Asia, Europe and the United States. The company aims to continue expanding aggressively in Asia.

“Mother Teresa once said that we cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love. Sharing the knowledge of Nutritional Immunology with the world is my small way of making a difference in people’s lives so that they can enjoy healthier, longer lives. My dream of a disease-free world drives me to champion good health for all,” says Dr Chen.

Can supplements help to prevent cancer?

Another excellent article from Today newspaper.

One third of ALL CANCER linked to poor diet and lack of physical activity.

SINGAPORE — Every day, about 33 Singaporeans are diagnosed with cancer, which is the leading cause of death here.

Despite the statistics, it is possible to make lifestyle choices that lower cancer risks. For instance, one-third of all cancers have been linked to a poor diet and insufficient physical activity, which are changeable risk factors for cancer, said Dr Lim Siew Eng, associate director (clinical — education) and senior consultant at the Department of Haematology-Oncology at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore.
What you eat can make a difference in cancer prevention and this is a choice that everyone can make on a daily basis, said Dr Lim. Here are some ways to lower cancer risk at every meal.
1. Processed and red meat

These meats are the contributing cause of colorectal cancer — the most common cancer in Singapore — as well as other cancers such as stomach, breast, endometrium and oesophagus cancer, said Ms Esther Lin, dietitian at National University Hospital (NUH).

Cured and processed meats such as bacon, sausages, ham, spam, corned beef and tinned meat also increase colorectal cancer risk.

“When these meats are consumed on a regular basis, your risk of colorectal cancer would increase, even if they are consumed in small amounts,” said Mr Won Tin Chiang, senior dietitian at National Healthcare Group Polyclinics.

Ms Lin explained that carcinogens are produced when meat is cooked at high temperatures or by charcoal grilling.

“Processed meats are preserved by salting, smoking, curing or the addition of chemical compounds (nitrates and nitrites), which cause the formation of cancer-causing nitrosamines,” said Ms Lin. Nitrosamines damage cells and may lead to the development of cancer.

Choose wisely:

Lower your cancer risk by including more fruit and vegetables, which are rich in dietary fibre, in your diet. Have at least two servings of each daily. According to Ms Lin, fruit and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals, fibre, sterols and antioxidants that may help prevent cancer.

“Antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, carotenoids and other phytochemicals, are thought to protect normal cells against damage from oxidative stress,” she said.

Dr Lim explained that phyto-chemicals are chemicals that occur naturally in plants. “They provide the colour, taste and smell, influence chemical processes in the body, and are the cancer fighters in our food,” he said.

To reap the benefits of these cancer-fighting nutrients, be sure to eat vegetables and fruit of all colours, advised Dr Lim. Examples include broccoli, kai lan, banana, pineapple, blueberries, brinjal, carrot, orange, tomato and red capsicum.

All of the above are aligned with what Nutritional Immunology is advocating!

Wholesome is the key, we should get the disease fighting nutrients from wholesome plant food rather than extracted or isolated or synthetic vitamins/nutrients which can prevent diseases at all.

Wholesome VS synthetic:

How to prepare 28types of vegetables in a minute!

Super excited when VegColor is finally launched!

As we all know the importance of eating vegetables, not just eat and has to ensure we eat enough of quantity i.e. 500grams per day and variety also.

Some of my customers do feedback to me it's tedious to prepare as need to ensure no chemical or pesticide residue on the vegetables and fruits, and some kids they don't really eat much greens. Even if they do eat, but maybe just limit to broccoli or spinach, that's all.

For how to solve the pesticides residue problem, I used VegWash, it's water based with no chemical and effective to wash off pesticide residue.

For how to prepare 28 types of different colours vegetables in a minute, now I have this: ta da.... Vegecolours!

How to consume?

Either sprinkle on food or

Mix into noodle or

or mix into waffle

VegeColor save lots of my time in term of preparing and feeding, as it taste yummy!!!

What's more we can rest assured as Dr.Chen has helped to safeguard us from all the harmful chemical or heavy metal or pesticides residue yet made into such a convenient way!

For example, in the morning other than Nutrifresh, I always wanted to introduce greens into their breakfast but really don't know how. Now I can add Vegecolours into bread or waffle...
