So I just pop into Watson to check on the ingredients.
I saw a big red sticker on top, apparently it is No.1 Dermatological Skin Care brand in SG, not too surprise to me as it is commonly recommended by PD or skin doctor.
What is SLS? Why it shouldn't exist in any skin care products?
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a surfactant. A
surfactant is a chemical that stabilizes mixtures of oil and water by reducing
the surface tension at the interface between the oil and water molecules.
Because water and oil do not dissolve in each other a surfactant has to be
added to the mixture to keep it from separating into layers. Surfactants
provide one or more of six functions:
- Detergents - for cleansing
- Wetting agents - in perms
- Foaming agents - for shampoos
- Emulsifiers - in creams and lotions
- Conditioning agents - in skin and hair-care products
- Solubilizers - for perfumes and flavors
SLS has some toxicity. However, it is the most widely used surfactant in the industry and is approved for use by all regulatory agencies. It's even approved for use in baby products.

Hence it is important to be a wise consumer not only in choosing food, but also our skin care products.

Because toxic cancer causing (carcinogenic) chemicals is everywhere - from the air we breathe, the food we eat and the personal care toiletries we use on our hair, skin, and in our mouth. They may be contributing to the spiralling rate of cancer and metabolic disease whilst speeding up aging process too.
Feel free to contact me to find out more on how to be wise in choosing both health food & personal care products.
