The chronic killers

From Today's newspaper:

According to Singapore Burden of Disease Study 2010 -
1 in 4 (23.5%) adult Singaporean had hypertension
1 in 6 (17.6%) had high total cholesterol
1 in 10 (11.3%) had diabetes

" ... the risks of contracting these diseases can be reduced if people eat less and adopted more active lifestyles."

"Hypertension, which is more commonly known as high blood pressure and high cholesterol are both risk factors for developing heart disease and stroke"

"Costs of healthcare will rise as a result"

Basically nowadays most of family is double incomes earners, eat outside, no time to prepare nutrition food and no time to exercise leading to chronic diseases. Most of the people are busy earning more money but didn't realise that it is in expense of their health, end up paying more when health is gone.
